Designing Accessibly Fellowship

In 2019 I was on a fellowship team as a research assistant for Professor Megan Cash at Pratt Institute’s Center for Art, Design, and Community Engagement. The focus of the fellowship was creating accessible communications design projects and product design projects for young people with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, autism spectrum disorder, and/or dyslexia, with attention to the cognitive, sensory, visual, and emotional differences in learning modes found in these populations.

Areas of focus of the research included visual organization, user experience, typography, color, layout, and sensory factors in communications design and product design.

Below is a poster I designed summarizing outcomes of the project, along with photos from the class at Pratt Institute where we provided students with guidelines and ideas for producing accessible design projects.
